Honestly, most of the Admin types I know just make it up as they go along.
My sympathy to E20. I hope she gets lucky. But I think that's unlikely.

I just scanned it and it seems like it is a possibility, even with out medical reasons, but probably highly depends on the good will of HQ. It's a long shot but seems to be the only shot we have right now...

Thanks. Looks pretty similar to previous policies (based only on a casual look at the previous policy a while back). Basically boils down to, you can ask and they might say yes. I did notice that there are extra hoops to jump through/conditions that must be met by "educators only" (e.g. local hire back fill must be available, etc.).

It's legal mumbo-jumbo.
It's not meant to help classroom teachers.
This policy is a legal requirement, that exists only to cover HR butts. In the event of a lawsuit, HR can honestly go into court, show the policy to the judge, and explain that they have fulfilled all the requirements of both the law, and federal regulations.
