In my two previous contracts as a DoDDS/DoDEA teacher, I discovered July 27 was the date I received the actually job offer. This is approximately one month before school starts for students. Of course it is possible to be hired after student school starts, but it has never happened to me.

A few days to a few weeks is fairly typical with most people seeming to hear something within the first week. I have heard of some people not hearing for months and still getting the offer, so it is still possible for you (although it is generally better in most circumstances to hope for the best but prepare for the worst). Thank you both for your responses. I contacted HR and they informed me that unfortunately the position has been filled. This was only my second interview. I have had almost 50 referrals since first applying 3 years ago. I am only qualified in Prekindergarten and Kindergarten. I will just keep trying, but I REALLY wanted this position.

Sorry to hear that, but better to know I guess. At least they told you something. Generally they will not confirm anything until the successful candidate has completely cleared the process and gotten orders or a firm offer (which often takes months). Best of luck for future opportunities.
