I am an Italian national, and about to receive dual citizenship for the US soon. I am interested in applying to the Dodea and saw that in order to work on one of the military bases in Italy, I would have to renounce my citizenship. I am wondering if this is just a formality and there are any cases that I do not have to renounce in the case I get a job there? Also does my dual citizenship affect if I am eligible to receive LQA?

HelpOthers This has to do with SoFA status. You cannot be a citizen of the same country in which you receive SoFA status.

You also must be a US citizen to be a teacher for DoDEA. Host-nation classes are the only exception.

HelpOthers @IsItFriday? I thought that was why they pretty recently announced that the only non-US citizen teachers had to be for the host-nation class and not for any other classes.

IsItFriday? @HelpOthers. You noticed that too? Nicely done. I think a lot of employees missed the implications of that statement.

Yes, it's absolutely connected to the lawsuit, in which DoDEA was caught in flagrante delicto.
