I have been offered an interview for Bob Hope Primary at Kadena in Okinawa. I've been a contractor for the last 6 years in Rota, Spain and 4 years in Germany and the UK prior. Do you think it's worth leaving Rota for Okinawa? I love it here, but really want to break into Dodea as my pay and benefits are no match for Dodea positions. Has anyone done this transfer or have any input? I have to make my decision before I interview on Tuesday. Thanks everyone!

ecd5 If you receive LQA and it is written in your contract, you would be eligible for LQA with DoDEA especially since you would be moving to another country. If you accepted a DoDEA position in Rota, you would likely not receive LQA because you would be considered a local hire. Mullinzo Thank you @ecd5 and @HelpOthers for your responses and guidance. I certainly don't want to do anything illicit. Could either of you direct me to the guidance where this is explicitly stated so I have something to reference and look over? Is there some sort of DoDEA instruction of SOP to that effect? Thanks in advance.

HelpOthers https://aoprals.state.gov/content.asp?content_id=241&menu_id=75 is the link by the Department of State that explains what LQA is.

https://www.dodea.edu/Offices/PolicyAndLegislation/upload/14_PGRMD_021.pdf is the DoDEA regulation that also explains who is eligible- see enclosure 3.

(1) To be LQA-eligible, individuals (including...See More

ecd5 However, that only applies to DoD if I'm reading it correctly and you said you are a contractor. I'm assuming you work for Sterling/Magnum Medical? I transitioned from working for them and received LQA. I was at an overseas location and moved to another overseas location. My contract for Sterling had salary and a separate amount for LQA. You will n...See More
