I just wanted to say thank you for this chatboard and for all the information we've all received from it over the years. Especially Haha! I've been in the DOD system for 7 years now. I have now reached the point where I need to stay in my current system for the pension. (The DOD would have been a salary cut for me, but we wanted to serve the military and live somewhere interesting.) This past summer was our last year to try. I got one referral, but no call. We will still hold out hope for a call over the next month, but if not, I am calling it quits on my application. Thanks again!

wanderer I think that I was hired into DoDDs twice from CONUS because I was National Board Certified. I did not have a military background. I think it bumped me onto referral lists. I recommend becoming an NBCT if DoDDs is your goal.

wanderer Sorry. Long time since I'd been on here and I forgot about the commenting glitch.

haha Anything is possible, but it seems that very few DoDEA teachers are NBCT (at least anecdotally, I have never seen any stats on it).

Then again, anything that you can do to stand out or try to separate yourself from the pack can't hurt (especially if you've a mind to do it anyway, it pays more in your state, etc.).
