A few days to a couple of weeks is fairly typical. But, never say never. For good or bad, we have seen/heard of people getting the call/email months after giving up hope on a referral turning into an interview.

And some are more gullible.
Has a date ever stood you up? How long did you wait?
We are talking about a deeply, deeply impersonal process, in which the applicants are treated as numbers from the start to the end of the process.

Thanks, I want to clarify I love this job. Just really missing family and find it hard to be away.

That's exactly how I interpreted your question.
There are many people in the same boat.
We may love it. But it's a job. We wouldn't do it for free. And it keeps us far from friends and family.

As we said, teaching/grade level assignments are entirely within the discretion of the principal.

It's happening in all areas. Many elective teachers have been excessed as well. Class sizes are going to go WAY up.

There is definitely some shifting and shuffling go on, but it's hard to get a clear picture on exactly what the intent is or where it will end (or at least pause for the near future).

MsU - You say that both of these schools have been severely short staffed for the past 2 years. Is that due to a lack of applicants, unexpected departures, or funding cuts that removed the positions? Other people make it sound like it is hard to get hired on here.

Two schools? There are five schools in that complex.
They were never short staffed. They all have a high turnover. The turnover was for all the reasons you listed and more.
