HelpOthers@IsItFriday? I thought that was why they pretty recently announced that the only non-US citizen teachers had to be for the host-nation class and not for any other classes.
Yes, it's absolutely connected to the lawsuit, in which DoDEA was caught in flagrante delicto.
But there was a lot more to that lawsuit, than a simple implied admission that DoDEA was blatantly in the wrong. People were wrongly denied jobs. People's careers and opportunities were wrongly curtailed.
Financial damages!
Did DoDEA quietly settle? What was the payout? Or are they using the same underhanded legal tactics employed against the union? (Delay, delay, delay.) Enquiring minds would like to know.
I really wish that Stripes would do a better job of following up on lawsuits like these. Just a tiny bit of investigative journalism please.
hahaHopefully you have some movement by now. Not much help with who else to contact. Presumably your HR person should have at least been able to give you contact information, but it is always dangerous to presume I guess.
KikiNothing still! The HR person said there was nothing they could do and I just need to wait. So I will continue to wait and hope that there isn't an error causing the delay.
I had an interview for a position today and was only asked three questions. Does anyone else find that odd? They asked about my background, my background with AP classes, and why the location?
I know reading into it won't help, but being...See MoreThat is what I thought as well. Being established in DoDEA, makes me wonder if it was because they already had access to a lot of my information or if they possibly already had an ideal candidate and were doing others as a necessity. We had good discourse and I thought my responses went well...
I know reading into it won't help, but being an analytical being...its hard to refrain :). I would have liked the opportunity to share more about myself!

As for the local area, it is Italy and it is Sicily, so certain things will generally go along with that (e.g. a little disorganized, a little run down in some cases, a certain amount of crime/break ins, etc.).
Most people seem to enjoy/have enjoyed their time there but I think it would drive certain types of people crazy. It's Europe and so the travel opportunities would be great, once you get off the island.
BlueSkyWorked on Sig in the early 2000s. Haha's description fits with my experience. Sicily's landscape is pretty. Definitely rural and rustic. The schools were good, and the base had a good bit to offer. Enjoyed my time there.
I just did my transportation form and it said my initial contract was 3 years and if I fulfilled that, they would move my stuff back to the states. I had thought it was 2? How many years does it take to be tenured? Thanks.
If it stating 3 full years before you are c...See MoreWell, we generally do talk about two years of being on provisional status. But, in reality, they can apparently ask you to leave without having to provide justification up until the point you return and start your 3rd school year (after which point you are generally considered to be "permanent").
If it stating 3 full years before you are considered to have fully met the conditions of your travel agreement, then that does sound a bit unfamiliar (but wouldn't swear to it). When in doubt, ask HR for clarification (and then report back here).
Now, I interviewed on Friday, and he said I did a good job and that he was going to make a decision by the end of the day. He told me that if selected, HR would contact me with a tentative offer. Now, here's where it gets a little weird. I just found out today that my two previous references/supervisors still have not completed and sent the form! If he needs two additional references to make a decision but doesn't bring up the fact that he hasn't received them, should I assume that the position will go to someone else? Do they NEED to have all 5 before making an offer, or is it just a formality? Thanks in advance for the help.
Hi. We just arrived here in Ansbach. Anyone who can give me ideas regarding the job application here. Also, I wanted to know the qualifications and requirements for the said application. Where to apply?
How about the official hours for full-time and part-time positions?
