After getting over the defeated feeling ( I am mostly over it), I have registered for this assessment cycle. I have lots of room to improve on Exercise 1 & 2 on Component 1. I scored a 2 on each of them. I am trying to determine if I should work on preparing to take those two parts again in April or rewrite my Component 4. I only scored a 2.125 on that section.
After doing all three portfolio sections in one year...I am a bit burned out.
Elizabeth NicholsI think completing the other components makes you more prepared for Component 1. You are more familiar with and have used the information now instead of just studying it. I would take all 3 just to cover my bases.

Can Librarians who have gone through the process PLEASE contact me? I need to see examples of Component 2. We all have different things we are doing, so if someone is willing to send me what they used or is using, I am a visual learner so I am asking to see samples of what you have done. Many thanks
MCk2I'm doing Library Media and I scored a 3.0 on C2. I'm not willing to share my stuff, but I'm happy to answer questions and point you in the right direction. My email is kdonovan and the last part is @lexington4.net.
Sybil TroullierMake sure you include verbiage from the standards in your writing. You should also include the theorists you are relating to and their theory and how you applied it.
My area is Exceptional Needs. I'm sad because I missed the cut score by 14 points. I am happy because I completed the task and I have learned so much. I am trying to decide if I should continue. Any suggestions?
Sybil TroullierYES, continue. Being NBCT opens many doors and opportunities. You can get immediate certification in other states if needed and you are respected in the profession. You are more marketable and puts you ahead of the rest.
I delayed videotaping myself the entire first semester and have to going.
I figure I could use an iPad or iPhone to record myself, but am concerned about the sound- are there microphones for these devices? Any tips would be appreciated.
TriciaGI find that iPads have a adequate microphone for videotaping. Just try it once even if it's not for the lesson that you plan to analyze and see what you think.
Have any Spanish teachers received certification and/or good scores? My coworker and I are trying to figure out how to tackle Component 4 (and then 1 in the spring). Muchas gracias :)
