I think completing the other components makes you more prepared for Component 1. You are more familiar with and have used the information now instead of just studying it. I would take all 3 just to cover my bases.

I made a list based on all of the information in the directions and created a feedback form. I had several peers watch videos and tell me if I had met the criteria or not. Make sure you include verbiage from the standards in your writing. You should also include the theorists you are relating to and their theory and how you applied it.

YES, continue. Being NBCT opens many doors and opportunities. You can get immediate certification in other states if needed and you are respected in the profession. You are more marketable and puts you ahead of the rest.

I figure I could use an iPad or iPhone to record myself, but am concerned about the sound- are there microphones for these devices? Any tips would be appreciated.

I find that iPads have a adequate microphone for videotaping. Just try it once even if it's not for the lesson that you plan to analyze and see what you think.

i have heard that the iPads work well. I would contact Apple support for additional detailed questions regarding using the iPad.
