Do most schools reward children for points and reading scores? My child's school will reward the children who reach their goals and have an average of 85% on all quizzes. When it was first implemented my daughter's goal was 16 (she was in the 3rd grade). Anyway, she earned 32 points and her average was 84.8 so she was not rewarded. She was however teased by her classmates who attended the party. She was so upset. So the next trimester once she reached her goal she stopped taking quizzes because she did not want her score to drop. I am not a fan of this program. My child can only red books in her range and the book has to be on AR or she cannot read it. I have seen a change in her attitude towards reading. When she was in 2nd grade the school had Reading Counts and she loved reading and earned over 250 points. Now as a 5th grader her attitude is basically....AR Stinks and she does not care about going to a party.
