I moved to a new state and took a job with a corporate-owned childcare center. I used to be a lead teacher in the 3/4 year old room in a private school and now I'm a teacher's assistant/floater. I'm really unhappy and I have only been at the job for a month. I see kids doing little work, teachers who use cellphones all the time instead of getting things ready for the next day, eating in front of the kids, gossiping on the playground instead of watching the kids, and worse. Today, a teacher humiliated a child who had a BM in her pants (made her wait 30 mins until she went back inside)

What has your experience been between corporate and privately-owned childcare/preschool centers?

It doesn't help the children at all, and unless you want to be a whistleblower to the corporate office (if you feel nothing you say or do will change the envir...See More

The owner/director really doesn't know what's going on and doesn't really care as long as parents aren't complaining and money is coming in.

The best I can do is be profession...See More

Preschool Teacher I think it really depends on the school. I currently work for a corporate/ franchise preschool and don't have those types of problems. Our school is far from perfect but I have contact with teachers from other franchised schools of the same name, and their problems are completely different. Just depends on the school
