I am in school for Early Childhood Education and classroom management is a huge part of the curriculum. Teachers can teach us how to write beautiful and perfect lesson plans but if a teacher has no management skills then that lesson plan will not be worth much. If a classroom is out of control a teacher will not have much a chance to teach all of the lessons planned. In my opinion positive reinforcement can control classroom behavior massively. If a teacher is always harping on the bad and recognizing the misbehaviors then the students will continue to misbehave. However, giving that positive reinforcement will show the students that you DO see it when they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. This will typically cause a ripple effect in the classroom and you will see more students displaying that positive behavior.

There are other students in the class who need your attention and they are waiting for you to finish instruction. Once you give one distraction too much attention, here come the other students thinking they can...See More
