Hi everyone! I'm collecting data to assess the need to provide continuing education to school counselors and teachers on identifying OCD symptoms in school-aged children, and I would really appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes to complete the following survey. Thanks for considering!
I will be moving from an international (Cambridge - IGCSE / A-Level) school to an IGCSE / IB school.
Needless to say, I am familiar with the CIE curriculum and, in my case, how students progress through that system and onto University.
However, I am not familiar with IB.
I wondered if anyone could give some advice and pointers for courses that could be helpful to a University guidance counsellor aiming to understand IB from the perspective of a counsellor.
I wonder if anyone could shed some light on applications to Canada?
I'm an academic guidance counsellor working in a British international school in Qatar where pupils study I/GCSE's and AS& A Levels . This year applications have been quite popular to Canada in comparison to other years and I've really very little experience with it.
Are there any compulsory subjects that universities like to see? For example: Maths?
Do they have any external standardized tests to take? is the SAT required?
If they are English do they still need to take and Ielts?
Does it entirely depend on the province?
Are there any establishments that offer foundation year courses/pre university courses that are well known?
- I've done a google search and so many different answers have been thrust my way and I don't really know if they are authentic or not. I'd quite like to just see/hear it from another professional directly.
Teacher candidates will learn of development characteristics from a counselor/school psychologist of a middle/high school student. In this block, your field experience collaboration and interview must be completed when students are not present.
Contact a counselor and school psychologist or resource teacher from grades 6-12 and arrange an interview. Speak with your instructor if there is the need to interview alternate professionals, if necessary.
Use the following points of discussion to guide your interview:
Discuss the perceived characteristics of this generations' adolescence.
What characteristic is changing the most? Possible reasons why.
What characteristic seems to never change?
How is physical development influencing adolescent characteristics?
How is cognitive development influencing adolescent characteristics?
How and what socioeconomic developments are influencing adolescent characteristics?
What professional development may help staff cope with changing adolescent characteristics?
What technologies are being used to facilitate student learning?
My name is Robert, and I am in need to connect with a counselor who works in secondary education to partner with me in completing part of my field experience/practicum requirements for my school.
I am currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University in the pursuit of licensure for Secondary Education in Mathematics, and I need to interview a counselor about services provided to secondary students.
This has been a trying experience, to be honest. I have spent an hour plus a day for three weeks trying to connect with a counselor, but where I reside, schools are out on summer break and my time for completion is running short. I found this forum and wanted to try and reach out here in the hopes someone will be kind enough to partner with me.
So please respond if you are willing, we can conduct the interview email or teleconference, whatever works best.
