lease help me before I lose it! I am having difficulty getting a 2nd grade class to line up and walk to recess and then to lunch without running and/or talking. When some students are corrected, they ignore the direction. Can you tell me immediate correction techniques to use? I am at a loss as I don't want to punish one or two students but feel I have no recourse. But even then, I am unsure of an appropriate punishment. Some of the students can not control their behavior in an unstructured (lunch and recess) setting. Please help me...I am at a loss.

There are three articles that you may find helpful: Elementary Classroom Rules and Management, Rewards in the Classroom, and 25 Ways to Obtain Children's Attention in a School Setting.

Just click below and on the article of your choice.

Ben There isn't enough information here. You didn't say how long a walk it is, or how many kids you have in the class, etc.

Do they have to wait too long for lunch? 2nd graders should have breakfast before class, a snack at 10am, and lunch no later than 12:30. Maybe the kids are really, really hungry?

Try speaking to them at eye level...See More
