Anyone else think the ACCESS grade 1 reading test is way too difficult for first graders to actually read, even those reading at grade level? They can barely decode it (my state tests in January, so they've only had a few months of first grade), so how can comprehension be truly evaluated? And then the writing requirement is so simple. It seems like one group created the reading test and a separate group created the writing test. And the worst thing is ifor out have them do it computer based. They are forced to pick an answer even if they couldn't read the text. So they guess. And let me tell you, I have some very good guessed!
