I am the new librarian to a school and am cataloging books left for me from last year. I have a book here, however, that I can't figure out where to catalog. Our system, luckily, gives us the call numbers for us, but this book doesn't have one and here's why. I the Library of Congress Cataloging system (we use dewey) it is under PZ7.B151. I have searched for how this converts to Dewey and it doesn't. It is considered Juvenile belles lettres. I'm not familiar with this. Where would you put it?

Thanks!
TranquilLibrarian What is the book title and author? cataloging is an art, not a science. You can out it where you think it belongs in your collection.

Here's a tip Don't use LOC catalog records! they are messy and cumbersome!

Go to [link removed].

Then copy the MARC record and download it into your system (or you can copy it the old fashioned way) it works just like LOC and the records are much more useful for the average school librarian.
