How do you clean paperback books? I have a classroom set of Anne Frank with slick covers that are on their last leg. I've replaced ones missing covers, etc. but have many that are really grimy and musty. I had to replace another classroom set this year and so poor Anne will have to wait until next year to get replaced. Suggestions on how I can clean these books so I'm not embarrassed to hand them out and stretch one more year from them?

Nancy Just completed 5 years as a Teacher Librarian, and here's what I'd do...

For any newer books - cover with a "MacTac" type of plastic coating. Available through BroDart by the roll, or buy a cheaper version through Wal-Mart. It wipes clean.
