I completed a long term leave assignment(exceeding 30 days). The State Dept. of Education states that any extended leave position (for certified teachers) must be mentored. I spoke to both the principal and mentor teacher to confirm this and both assured me they would look into it. I was asked to attend mentoring meeting with other candidates but, at the end of my tenure, was told that hours could not be logged for me because my name was not on the list. After months of satisfactory performance (was observed twice-both satisfactory ratings)however I was never given individualized mentoring. I spoke to a certification and licensing specialist and all they could tell me is that it was a school-based issue and the mentor needed to arrange for me to be put on the list. Do I have any recourse where I may be given my "time" for my service? I asked admin and mentoring repeatedly about it. To my folly, I thought the meetings were the mentoring.
