ChalkyI believe that most of the top 10 mass murder gun attacks have involved gunmen with serious mental deficiencies — yet our current POTUS did this:
...will be without health care coverage at the end of the month because Republicans can't get their act together to reauthorize the CHIP program on time.
"Utah sent a warning Sept. 15 to Medicaid administrators that the state would have to roll up CHIP starting immediately if funding wasn't enacted by Saturday. Utah's senior senator is Hatch, who co-founded CHIP with Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) in 1997 and has called providing children's healthcare "a moral responsibility," but couldn't manage to move a funding bill to the floor in time."
There's your "one child".
How about 58,410 of them who lost their health coverage yesterday.
All schools and bookstores should remove all Dr Seuss books. I ca...See MoreThe gall of this first lady (and this post is only about the person who donated books, not just because she is female.). How dare she donate racist books to elementary schools. Hooray for the Massachusetts librarian who rejected the racist material donated by our First Lady.
All schools and bookstores should remove all Dr Seuss books. I cannot believe people like Michelle Obama and Barbara Bush would also spread this racist propaganda in our schools.
Bob R/CAThe only "outrage" I'm seeing seems to be from a news channel you watch. Because I have yet to see this story covered on any network I watc. Apparently the other night, when one network had Anderson Cooper on the scene in San Juan, Tucker Carlson was on the air reading Sr. Suess. Fake news indeed.
The net result will be an exodus of Puerto Rico, and why not? It has no future! Certainly, the schools will struggle to function for most of the next year. If I had children, I would get them out.
In the end, the territory cannot both rebuild and pay the debt. As the article says, "Gov. Ricardo Rossello warned several days ago that without more U.S. aid, the territory risks a mass migration that would impair its ability to recover."
Face it! Climate change migration has begun - aided by our economic system!!!!
I agree that the current administration won't implement long term support for Puerto Rico. They can't vote and all but a few thousand are Hispanic or Latino.
An interesting dynamic will play out as a result of the alienation of Puerto Ricans by our president and our country's inattention to their rebuilding efforts especially if they evacuate to the mainland.
Long Time LurkerI lived in PR for 5 years. Actually, when I first logged onto T-Net, It was February 1998 using a dial up out of San Juan. It is sad that PR has not had the recognition, respect, and support to get through this emergency and the hope of assistance toward full recovery.
POTUS hasn't done much in the past week to earn their loyalty. Of course, he thinks they can't vote for him now, but that situation might change drastically.
LuluAnd does anyone else find it funny that after all the hullabaloo about voter fraud coming from Trump his SIL was not only registered to vote in multiple states, but he was registered as a woman? :-)
