Preschool Teachers Chatboard

VPK/ESE inclusion..help?

Hi, My VPK class went inclusion so I have 7 students on IEP.. that range from DD (developmental delay) to downs syndrome to Speech impaired/language impaired. I am having major concerns with one of them (he is DD) will be 5 in December. He has difficulty playing with children. I feel that he may fall asperger's b/c very smart. (One of my highest). He could be sitting at the table playing alone and another child doing something different. All of sudden go up to the child and smack him in the face. We are going into our 3rd week of school. Telling him to stop while I am getting across the room to stop doesn't do anything. He has smacked adults in the classroom. We remove him to the quiet table and say we don't hit friends or teachers. We take him back to the child to apologize (again he really doesn't understand). I'm not seeing any improvement but I am documenting his meltdowns and hitting.
