I am a first year teacher trying to find classroom activities for my students. Can anyone point me in the direction of engaging classroom activities? Like reading jigsaws? KWL charts, Think Pair Share?

Jodi A few ideas that you could utilize would be to choose a topic of the month and have a discussion on it such as the Holocaust or Civil Rights. You could also utilize YouTube which is apparently a very popular way of using videos to your advantage in the classroom and also some virtual tours if field trips were not an option. Barbara You need quality curriculum such as from the Center for Learning and Interact. Mindsparks is ok and you may have to develop some of your own. The older history alive stuff is good, the latest curriculum they have cut out some of their best lessons but History Alive is perfect for a new teacher because it is so structured and includes clear directio...See More
