A colleague of mine would like to learn Spanish; he has a ti time share in Mexico and would like to become more co conversant. He asked me about Rosetta Stone and I told him I I didn't know much about its effectiveness.

I suggested that he try the Duolingo app to start and that I would ask on this chat board for any suggestions.

Gracias de antemano

Daniel Hanson Expensive, glorified flashcards is pretty much what Rosetta Stone is. It does not teach grammar, etc.

John Boehner I have a close friend who taught himself with RS. He was (is) very motivated (unlike many high schoolers) and even goes weekly to "Spanish only" lunches. He knows vocabulary very well, but the lack of grammar structure has been difficult for him. Each weekly has has grammar questions for me.
