And, I'd just like to comment how wonderful it is to have this resource. It's great that Teachers.net has been around for so long and that so many teachers are so loyal. The new chatboards and redesigns are indicative of the desire of the folks in charge to make changes as needed without straying from their original intent. Great Job!!

I'm retired but when I was teaching I used the internet to find interesting classroom ideas and many times there were videos of these fabulous rooms. If a child would ask a question about an animal we would look it up on the internet and find a video.
HI; I'm looking for good videos for Spanish class. I'm aware of the videos of Señor Jordan, Sr. Mara and the 'Que hora es'. Any others you may want to share will be really appreciated. Thanks
I enjoy switching up my teaching with these videos. Some students find it more engaging and a good review. Students can use the videos at home to clarify or in class while you're teaching another group of students.
This prince spent all but 5 min. of my one hour observation time on his blackberry/iphone? exchanging jokes, quips, and email, with "his peeps" (other teachers in the building) and yes, he uses the word peeps when referring to them. He was actually laughing out loud and my students kept turning around to see what was going on.(I "circulated" the room to help students and yes, I deliberately went around the back of the chair he was sitting in to get a look at what was going on.) He was also on the internet.
This prince constructed and updates his facebook page on school time...it's all there date and time wise, for anyone to see. And he did post to his Facebook page when he was in my classroom observing me. Yes, I saved it, along with documenting his behavior while he was observing me, just in case... cuz, I'm def. not 1 of his peeps or his BFF!
I do let parents know that these sites are available to the students while they are at school. I don't let my students use them in my class and I make sure I keep my documentation in order to protect myself. Other than that, all I can do is hope than nothing bad will come of this for the kids.

I would also have to enforce my own rules about the use of phones and iPods during class.
I would then have to ask myself how I can use this technology to my advantage. Do all students in my class have the ability to go online? If not, does the media center provide such devices? If not, why not and what can I do about it? Is there a free app that my students can use to understand my content?
