Program: Bright Ideas Grant

Summary:

Sponsored by North Carolina’s Touchstone Energy
cooperatives, Bright Ideas education grants provide
funding for a variety of hands-on classroom projects for
students in grades K-12 throughout the state. Grants of up
to $2,000 are awarded for Tar Heel teachers to improve
classroom instruction and to encourage innovative teaching
methods. Educators serving K-12 schools are eligible for
the grants, which are awarded in a competitive evaluation
process by individual electric cooperatives throughout the
state. Each year, more than 2,000 applications are
accepted from teachers in a variety of disciplines
including music, art, history, reading, science, career-
planning and information technology.
