This is my first year teaching 4th grade writing. I would
like to know what strategies you use to prepare your
students for the TAKS test. My kids are not doing very
well on their TAKS practice sheets for the revising and
editing portion of the test. I have them mark corrections
they see in the passage and cross out answer choices that
they know are wrong. Any ideas for teaching writing in
Texas would be appreciated. Thanks.

KMoore We use PEG. Pencil to the Paper, Edit as you go, Go back, Go back, You pegged it don't know! I make them edit mistakes as they read the story, then go back and try each answer choice in the story. That way they can't just guess.
