I am making a coaster out of a 1/4-inch thick piece of blue
agat.

One: am I correct in assuming that the hardness of blue agat
is appropriate to resist chipping and breakage in use as a
coaster?

Two: the edges are given to rub off in the form of particles
of the material. How can I most easily seal the edges so
this doesn't happen without marring the appearance? What
would I use?

Thx,
David
