JennaThere is a shortage in Florida but the need is concentrated in high-poverty schools where teachers are already walking out (1 month into the school year). Well run districts get to choose.
I'm not seeing a shortage in my area either, north central Florida. Don't let it get you down. Take a break, talk to people, call schools, sub. Every single job on the planet will at some point have an opening... Persevere.

The weather is definitely better than Michigan! Pay may look amazing on where you move. Look up the cost of living in that area. Schools differ from district to district on how supportive admin is to staff.

Everywhere in Florida is just as bad. I would run away fast!

I was at a pretty good one that got closed because of the company running it.
I have to have the Subject Area Exam to get my bachelors degree in my hand. I completed my Early Childhood Education program in December of 2015. I cannot pass the Developmental Knowledge portion of the Subject Area Exam. I have tried EVERYTHING. I have taken the portion 5 times and I have studied literally everything. Any advice?

I am attempting to enroll in an online masters program to earn a masters in education in reading. I am strongly considering Arkansas State University. Has anyone earned a masters in education from this school, and was it accepted by fldoe for reading certification?
I am looking to relocate in Florida because my husband may have a job offer. I currently teach in Canada and have a Master's degree in education. Does anyone know if I'll be able to teach in Florida and what steps I need to take to do this? Thanks in advance!
Wow. This is how false information is spread. You cannot and I repeat, cannot teach in Florida with just a high school diploma. Yes, just with a college degree for a limited time - maximum 3 years and in most cases only 1 year, because you have to pass the GKT within the first years of the temporary certification.

For our Canadian friend, usually a foreign degree needs to be evaluated. That is usually your first step. After it is evaluated then you can send it in to FDOE and they will review it and tell you the subject area you can teach. They will also inform you of the addition steps you need to follow. However, you will have to make sure that you take care of your immigration issue.
I was wondering if anyone can help guide me here. I have taken the pre-k to 3 grade primary certification exam twice already and pass any of the sections. what materials should i use and where can I find questions that are on the exam.
