Something is really up with Florida and in some places. But I would definitely complete my certifications and run away from Florida in a heartbeat. It's getting crazy over here. Can you please cite your source if that's okay?
After receiving the Statement of Status Eligibility (SOE) for teaching MAthematics (6-12), I want to know what are the chances of getting a teaching position without any previous teaching experience. I also want to know if there are there any training programs or courses I shloud have taken before applying on teaching postion?
"Your grades are middle school...very difficult for a new >> teacher....I suggest you find a different job." is this person serious?
Hopefully you didnt' actually listen to that person, bc I am getting really tired of ignorant and unhelpful people posting ignorant and unhelpful comments. Its the risk you take going online asking questions though I guess :( Go on teachers-teachers.com and sign up for an account. You can browse 100s and 100s of jobs in FL. Whether you are new teacher or not does not reall matter, what will matter is where you hope to be teaching. FL has like 70 counties, each running things differently. You must narrow down a few areas, visit those areas and fully research your possibilities. Schools are typically very receptive and willing to at least interview you. Job fairs are big in FL as well, sometimes they're a waste sometimes theyre great. Try them out. You will get something. Math is highly demanded, if not in the public schools than at least in the charter schools.

I'd suggest complete your certification requirements, teach for a bit just to get temporary cert, pass the ftce exams and move the hell out of florida! If you're on alternative route like me, do the same things and go somewhere else otherwise if you end up in a really bad C title 1 school, you'll get effd up for sure. Wise-up then run as fast as you can! I've learned the hard way!
I was wondering if anyone could give me the low - down (good and bad) about teaching in Marion County? I have a friend teaching there who LOVES it and wants me to go down too. I interviewed with his principal, but didn't get the job, but apparently they really liked me and want me to consider and re-apply.

I believe each individuals situation is different. I hae a degree in geography. I appled to teach ESE. I was told by the state I would have to complete 6 more college classes related to education, pass GK,ESE and Professional Certification. Now I am being told I also have to pass Elementary Education certification. Again everyones situation is different. some counties offer professional development classes that take the place of the college classes or you can take online classes or attend college again to complete the education classes. Wishing you the best. Its alot of work but I love what I do. >> On 12/03/16, PLawrence77 wrote: >>> On 9/11/16, Jenna wrote: >>>> On 8/21/16, Debbie W wrote: >>>>> Hello! One tip is to roadmap the passage as you read it. Mark impt points or quick summaries so that you can easily find them when you go to answer the questions.
Another option is to read the questions first, then read the passage. That way you know what you are looking for!
