Can they be used to help son or daughter after the birth of a grandchild?

Where I've taught, sick leave days could be used for immediate family care. To be realistic, though, I think a lot of it depends on where you work, how supportive your school and district administration is, and how honest you want to be when you need to be absent. I think your reason for using leave time is valid.
