Hi,

My wife and I recently moved to Cherokee County (Woodstock GA) and are having trouble finding her work. She has all of her teaching certifications, a bachelor's from an accredited school, and is working on her master's degree from the same university. She's also going on two years of elementary school, self-contained classroom, special education teaching experience.

We don't really understand how the surrounding counties hire, but have heard that most posting that go up around this time of year are filled internally, they are just posted up for legal reasons. The real job listings will appear from January-June.

My wife has applied to around 30 positions in Cobb and Cherokee with no call backs of any kind. Can we expect to see more success from the months of January-June? Are there any job fairs we could attend? We are in the dark in these areas, so I'm not sure how to go about giving her a leg up. Any advice would be extremely appreciated.
missy Your wife is trying to get into the two counties everyone else wants to get into so that they can leave their county. I would suggest she try Bartow, Pickens, and other neighboring counties to Cherokee. She might have better luck.

ATLTeacher I know this is late but a good site to use is teachgeorgia.org. Special ed is usually a field in demand so it might have just been that area.
