we need to have some serious discusson about teacher pay, union overreaching, and local versus state or federal school funding in general.

clc You're unlikely to get a two-sided conversation here. Are you willing to leave the state? Check the NC board for jobs in Durham. Jobs aren't plentiful in NC either and there are many people looking but it might be worth a shot. Downside- salaries are lower and there is no union. Bananas Teachers talk about this a lot. It is common sense for PE teachers to go hand-in-hand with coaching due to their athletic interests. If PE teachers earn higher salaries by percentage, I consider that they are earning the same base/level as teachers of other academic areas.
