Teaching Jobs on Teachers.Net

I currently have a provisional k-9 certificate. I'm working on getting the content and apt tests passed. Do these need to be done before I even apply for public school jobs? Is it hard to get a job in the public schools with a provisional certificate? Or do you need to be highly qualified to be considered for a job? My certificate is valid until June 30, 2012.
Michael Sadly, my experience was that no one would look twice at me for a public school position until I had a full IL certificate. This was before the layoffs, hiring freezes, and reluctance of older teachers to retire of the last two years. Get your certificate ASAP. Until then private and charter schools are going to be your only real options.

It is hard to get a public school job, PERIOD! Throw on the fact that you have a provisional certificate with a chance that you may not be employable long-term if you don't pass your tests, and it's highly unlikely that you'...See More

Michael Like SPED said, it's tough to get a teaching job right now. There are all sorts of fully certified kids just out of school looking for jobs. There are also all the people who got laid off at the end of last summer who are looking for work too. I only know two people who have found new teaching jobs this year.
