“Hey I got a solution for IL to cut millions of dollars in Debt! Get rid of the ISAT!!! It costs IL millions of dollars to buy, distribute and score the ISAT! Let's get rid of the ISAT! It does nothing for the students anyways. It does nothing for "accountability" of teachers. It doesn't follow the school district's curriculum. It doesn't improve student learning. It forces teachers to teach to the test; which leaves them no time for other important academic lessons. It takes 2 weeks for students to take the test. This means students are losing 2 weeks of academic instruction during the school year just to take the test!!! The ISAT isn't fair to bilingual students, or students with learning disabilities!

Let's save million of dollars a year and just not buy the ISAT! Perfect solution!

Assessments should be a tool to diagnose academic weaknesses and strengths and guide instruction. It should not be used to punish schools; which is currently happening now.” The ISAT...See More
