To add the LBSI endorsement to an existing certificate, ISBE basically requires four courses: survey; characteristics (cross-categorical); testing; methods. The survey requirement most likely was satisfied during your undergrad teacher education. I took SP511 and 512 through U of P, at the continuing educator price, which covered assessment and methods. However, I would have needed two to four courses for characteristics, as U of P courses only cover one disability each. So I took a semester long four-credit class at a local university, which also required 15 observation hours. The latter was a much better learning experience, but U of P enabled me to get the endorsement quickly. I took the test in February -- 125 common sense questions -- and was endorsed a month later. Upcoming tests in April, June, September. The requirements may be changing in 2012, so do not procrastinate.
