I was interviewed by a Catholic school today. Is it illegal for them to ask if I am married? Do I have children? What religion do I practice? What religion does my wife practice? Would she be willing to become a Catholic? I said I was Catholic, but didn't attend a church, which I am. They basically told me I would need to join their church if I am going to be hired on. Anything here illegal in questioning?

mrsd I'm guessing they can ask anything, because they are a private school. I know of many non-Catholics who teach in Catholic schools, but it probably depends on how traditional the school/church is as to what they expect from their teachers. Karen

Kathy Not illegal at all. Also, when you are hired, check the contract for things like a morality clause, church attendance requirements, etc. Kathy
