I am a new special education teacher. I have worked in classrooms as a paraprofessional and an aid but never as the role of the teacher. For my first year of teaching, I accepted a position teaching a self contained classroom for older (middle school/early high school) students. I am wondering what to do for the first day of school. I know establishing a schedule is crucial and coming up with a code of conduct with student participation is also important but I am not sure about how the rest of the first week should look like.
