Having a substitute parapro

Just a few notes for you teachers who use substitute parapros: There are a few things really frustrating to us who sub. The worst one is, being a substitute parapro in a special ed room...and finding out there are 3 adults for 3 students--or, worse yet, FOUR adults for THREE students! This has happened to me several times. All I can do is watch the clock, try to look busy, try to look like I'm really a good sub, and stew inside. Please...send me home. There are so many other things I could be doing. Pay me or don't pay me, but please don't let me suffer doing nothing!

I realize that probably the teachers can't do anything without higher approval, but if we could be busy--truly needed--in another classroom, we will feel useful.

All teachers are so different. In one special ed class, if we help the student put on his jacket or clean up her mess, we get reproved--the student should be doing it himself. But in another classroom, the teacher will let it go and welcome it...See More
