I have a misdemeanor in Illinois - I wasn't technically convicted of a DUI but it is on my record (first offense). This occurred when I was 18. I've always dreamed of working with kids and I'm currently majoring in early childhood education in Minneapolis. Is there any way I can teach or work in community centers/social work after graduation? Can I get it pardoned? Also, do you know of anywhere in the twin cities that would take volunteers with this on their record?

It's been years since I was licensed as a teacher in MN, but as I recall, a misdeameanor charge shouldn't impact your ability to volunteer or be hired.
