Hi, My name is Kyle Suhre. I am in the Marine Corps and will be for the next two and a half years. I have always wanted to teach high school history. I would like to know what kinds of classes I can take while still in the Marine Corps.
I am a 5th grade teacher and my building (5-6th grade - Middle School) in Southeast Missouri has a late position come open and there are few applicants out there - anyone still searching for a job or looking for a change?

How far south? I am in Bonne Terre and I am still seeking a position. I don't understand. I am a good teacher, new but good. I thought I would have a position by now.

Does anybody know when the Kansas City suburban school districts hire elementary teachers? I sent my applications/files in March, but have only had two interviews (with no job offers). I also followed up recently with emails to my top choices, with only one replying that "they are still getting applications." I'm getting pretty frustrated since I had a 4.0, plus fantastic references from my cooperating teacher and college professors. Many of the teachers in my neighborhood tell me to "hang on" because most of them didn't get hired until August (when final enrollment numbers are determined). I've worked so hard in school to earn good grades, plus make contacts in my districts, but no go. My friends in the rural school districts have already been hired, and this is quite depressing. Thanks, Meghan
I forgot to tell you in my other post to you. If you havent' been teaching for at least 4 years I am not sure what happens. The best thing is to contact the board of education in the state. I have emailed them and have gotten a very quick response back. Most of the time within a couple of hours. >>>>
I'm certified in secondary s.s. in MO, and am a relatively new teacher. My understanding is that with a completed teacher ed. program you are eligible to for KS certification once you've taken the appropraite Praxis exams, which would be your subject exam(s) and KS I believe requires Principles of learnig and teaching or something like that. Hope that helps.
I am the St. Louis Area Coordinator for Mindshapers Tutoring. We are doing an excellent job at matching students and tutors through our company. The tutors meet their students at local libraries or any place the tutor and student(parent) decide upon. The tutors choose their own fee and availability. They are then matched with students who are looking for what they offer in their profile. All of this is managed online or through me directly. Please visit our website!

After moving to Texas 5 years ago with my wife and one child for a "wonderful" engineering job that laid me off after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.. I went and got my teacher's certification thinking it was a way to survive until the economy was right to come back to engineering. Well now, with 3 kids, I find myself enjoying teaching. The only thing I don't enjoy is the lack of discipline in the Texas schools, so we have decided to come home to Missouri. I have some interviews set up, and will be making the journey to hunt for a job and visit relatives the last week of June. I have kept my eye on the moteachjobs site as well as the Missouri REAP site are there any other sites I should be watching? Ideally, I would like a job near St Louis, because my parents live there and the kids could get to know them better. I also have family in Southern Illinois near Marion, Mt Vernon and a little town called Palestine. I am not having any luck with the districts I have applied to in Illinois, no responses whatsoever. The schools out in the middle of nowhere in Missouri are responding, but nothing very close in to the St Louis area. Is there some site I am missing here? I hold a bachelors and a masters in metallurgical engineering as well as the equivalent of a minor in Education. I am certified to teach Mathematics and Chemistry and willing to obtain further certifications. Any help anyone can give me on finding a teaching job in the St Louis area would be great.
Unfortunately, it isn't all that close to St. Louis, but I know that Paris, MO is needing a HS Math teacher ASAP, if that interests you. If you've been watching MO teaching jobs, then you probably have seen that one. It's probably two hours or so from the St. Louis are, but I know they are needing someone!!
Good Luck!!

HELP!! I am a new teacher desperately seeking employment. I live in St. Francois county and have applied to schools in this county as well as ones in Perryville, St. Louis county, Jefferson County, Washington County, and Ste Gen county. I just cannot get a break. Does anyone have any leads for me? I am certified in Elem Ed and Art K-12.
Perry Co called this morning and I have an interview for next week! I have had a couple interviews that did not result in a contract. I need advice! What works???
Are you still seeking a position? Would you move to central MO? I have an immediate need for a 1st-2nd grade teacher in a small Catholic school. We prefer a Catholic but would consider a non-Catholic. Please call me at 573-341-8064 or 573-578-3671, if you are interested.

I live in Springfield, Missouri and have an AA degree. I want to work on getting my Bachelor's in secondary education and am interested in substitute teaching while I do so. I haven't really found the information on what I need as far as certification. Does anyone have information or experience they can share to help me? Thank you.
I hope you like subbing. After 35 years of teaching I retired and have subbed for 3 years. I still like it...esp the one day "gigs"....just in at 8 and out at 4.....no bulletin boards, teacher conferences , report cards. etc. lol
The only thing I don't like is the 6:00 phone calls from the sub coordinator !
Good luck !
