I have a question about salaries in the CMS and York county (Rock hill/Ft Mill)... I'm totally ignorant to how the steps work for you guys. Are the steps accurate? Meaning, If I have 14 years experience (I know florida and NC/SC have reciprocity regarding my cert) am I going to be on step 14? or is it like it is here in Miami- Dade, where we're about 3 steps behind where we should be because of budget? Thanks in advance!

NC ha...See More

don't do it They also don't have to give you all of your years. They MAY, but likely they will not. So, you should expect to be somewhere around step 5, not step 14. They will say: "Take it or leave it." As you may note, most of us suggest you leave it and stay in FL... or if that's not an option, look at getting out of teaching and do something else...See More

vbo And the topping on this whole you don't want to teach here sundae is that even though FL and NC may have license reciprocity, NC may still require you to take/retake various Praxis tests, at your own expense, to prove you are "highly qualified". You will be paid on the beginning teacher salary scale until NC recognizes your Praxis scores ...See More
