I am a recent college graduate and I majored in Biology. I
am seeking employment at the moment for middle school or
high school science. There is a program in North Carolina
that allows you to teach in the classroom and complete the
teaching requirements to be certified as you go along (ie:
praxis exams). However, you must find your own employment.
I am in the process of looking--but I wanted to know if
South Carolina has any program of that sort. I have not
taken any of my praxis exams yet but do intend on doing
so. I'm just looking to start employment and very much
would like to work in the Rock Hill York School district.
I have read some information about an alternative route
critical needs conditional certificate but I do not know
who to contact in regards to that. If you could please
give me any helpful information I would greatly appreciate
it!!!

You should contact the SC Dept. of Education. The PACE
program is what you are looking for.

thank you..i haven't tested though. Isnt the praxis test a
requirement before you can get your letter of eligibility? I
am trying to start teaching by august and there's no way I can
be 100% that I can test and start before august.
