Hello,

I plan to move to Nashville this Fall 2009. I would like to pursue a teaching career. I do NOT have a teaching certificate, and I don't mind teaching in high needs areas.

I would like to know what is the best way to get hired. Should I:

a) become a substitute and find a open position, then apply for the alternative certificate.

b) Apply right away for a teaching position without my certificate and hope they will give me the alternative certificate.

or c) Apply for a program like Teach Nashville and get my teaching certificate first before I apply for a teaching position

I am also planning on getting my master's in education. Should I do this before I get the teaching position or after? Is there reimbursement programs for career advancing degrees?

How is the Nashville city job market? Are there many teaching positions available? What is the pay per hour for subs in Nashville?

Thank you so much!
