It's called such because it's the first total solar eclipse to be visible to the US mainland since 1979 and, well, in general, eclipses are pretty great. Here's everything -- and we mean everything -- you need to know about this event. And no, there are no stupid questions.
When is the eclipse?
The eclipse will take place on Monday, August 21. The total eclipse begins on the West Coast just after 10 a.m. PT and ends on the East Coast a little before 3 p.m. ET.
The staff could somehow start out as an escalator ...See MorePersonally, I wouldn't worry about any connotations of the word baggage with elementary school kids - especially given the whole them of a trip. It's far worse NOT to have baggage when you arrive at your destination on a trip, right? But you could always use the words luggage or suitcases.
The staff could somehow start out as an escalator on the left and gradually build to a full staff on the right.
I teacher second grade and the parents of one of my students are both deaf. They use asl. I am looking for a resource that can help me communicate basic information to them. I know some basic signs but need some phrases to help share daily behavior and work information. Thank you.
flackaCheck with your speech and language pathologist because many of them know ASI. How was it handled for K and first grade? For conferences, your district should provide you with a translator but don't wait until the last minute, start the ball rolling now.
MelodyAlso, don't forget that written communication is certainly an option. A clear pre-written paragraph might be better than a fumbling attempt at signing. Of course, having a translator there would still be helpful for being able to converse back and forth.
I am still in here....not every day but working/walking and counting my steps! Glad to see some of the regulars still reporting in. Back at Dm's for a couple of weeks (at night). We took a two day road trip while my sis was here. Did a little shopping and enjoyed the eating!!!!
Men, we'll be thinking of you tomorrow....See MoreGlad to hear from you, Bev. You have so many commitments these days. Glad you're not sitting down on the job. And, glad you had a chance for a road trip. Gives you some perspective.
Just 3,959 steps today. I did my a.m. walk with my friend, but then, life intervened. Good stuff, so good day.
Men, we'll be thinking of you tomorrow. You're gonna rock those 35!

I am curious if anyone is in this boat. I am a current Fed government employee with another agency. I completed an EQIP less than 3 years ago. Should I expect to do another? I asked my HR rep and she said that the Security Office will make a determination. I am aware that each agency is responsible for doing their own, but can also utilize an active one. Just curious about DoD.
We had torrential rain today, too, but it didn't affect exercise for me. I walked a bit before, and then squeezed in two additional walks. 12,335 steps in all.
In between, shopping. Yes, the rain affected that. DH backed the car up under the veranda of our Meijer, and we loaded the trunk without getting soaked. Company this week-end--stocking up.
