Elaine/ret/INMen, I had forgotten about your mother's passing. I am so sorry. I am so glad your daughter could come. Good luck on the job scene. And in the ride.

I am currently a High School Guidance Counselor overseas where my Master's in Psychology satisfies the requirements for Guidance Counseling. I have gained a passion for the field and would like to continue in this path in my resident state of GA. Since the education requirements in GA to become a Guidance Counselor requires that I earn a Master's in Counseling I have decided to first earn an alternative teacher certification and gain some classroom experience prior to pursuing the Counseling degree. My question is, can anyone give me some insight on what the process is for earning an alternative teaching certification in Georgia. I understand I am able to work while completing the program but I have to first be hired by an education system prior to gaining entry to the program. I'm a little confused about the timeline and am unsure where I should begin.I am also aware the I must pass the GACE exam, but which version?
I would greatly appreciate any feedback or direction.
BTW, I plan to return to Georgia between December, 17 and June, 18.
flackaI used to teach in that district and I'm sure it's going to be a big ugly fight to change the name. That school has been around for a long, long time with that name and the alums will not be happy. The head of the board of supervisors was Trump's Va campaign manager so changing the name is not going to go well. Just sayin'
