I do not have air in my room. This has been an issue for quite a few years. Maintenance has come and go, but the problem has not been solved. I have fans, but what else can I buy to ensure to have a cool year (literally).
I amy be starting out on this journe...See MoreHi Mozart, I remember you! BA gave some great helpful hints. I know the magazine Guideposts offers writers workshops and may have some advice. Sometimes book stores offer writing type courses too. You might have a retired college composition teacher or high school English teacher who could help you too.
I amy be starting out on this journey of writing too. 2 years ago this week we lost our oldest granddaughter as she was stillborn. I was trying to find something to do to help with my grief and my mother-in-law was doing the same. Long story short we both found an organization where donated wedding gowns can be sewn into premie gowns and outfits. Turns out Star Legacy collects the gowns and volunteers cut them out and sew them. My mother-in-law is cutting up my wedding dress and sewing them into outfits right now. My youngest daughter just launched my mother-in-laws facebook page for the parents of these angels. My oldest daughter lost two babies and her blog along with other resources for bereaved parents will be presented on this page.
Now I have been collecting photos and my thoughts on this whole last 2 years and writing an article about it. I use Google Docs for writing everything and notes and such. Good luck on your family story. You might also check on self publishing your novel or go through a local printing company.
MozartHi Deb! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sad for you and your family but glad that something good is growing out of that experience. Thank you for your suggestions.
15659 today. The little guy and I walked around most of the morning. I was amazed by his willingness. We stopped to ride the hammock, play w plastic dinosaurs, watch the geese (and their droppings), sit on a bulldozer, etc. Short walk this evening. Home tomorrow. Darn.
We had heavy storms all night; so for the first time this summer, my group training ride got cancelled this morning. I thought I would drive over and do the 8:30 spinning class only to find no open bikes with people waiting for any openings. I guess with the soggy roads most if not all outdoor rides got cancelled. So, I tried out one of those elliptical machines for about 12 minutes to see I only consumed 100 calories. I will need to remember that when I want to pig out on cookies or candy in the future.
I then went and tried body pump which is weight training. I didn't really enjoy it. It reminded me of Zumba class when I spend most of my time trying to figure out the moves until I go often enough to get it into my muscular memory. My left arm started hurting almost immediately - the same muscle that hurts when I ride outside for longer routes. So that slowed me down due to the discomfort. I was great on the end routine with my legs. I don't need leg strength - it's upper body I need to improve.
We are finally getting together in Ohio tomorrow for my family's Christmas that got cancelled last December due to an ice storm. The grandkids are SO EXCITED about going. We are staying a couple nights then dropping our Florida nephew off at one of my brother's homes on our way back. That is our last "hurrah" before school starts the second week of August.
10,203 steps today. We blew lots of bubbles, sat on golf carts, listened to guitar players, wrote with sidewalk chalk, rolled on a basketball, played catch with a basketball, and dipped our toes in the lake. Best moment today: we came out of the woods to a full view of the sand and the lake. "The ocean!" The toddler shrieked. Guess whose family just returned from Hilton Head.
Elaine/ret/INDeb, any adolescent must-reads? I'm tried 9 years, but I still read the books. Not the dystopian stuff. I tried just in time. I read " The Hunger Games," and that was it for me. I'll read books about middle school angst, but none of that violent stuff. What a (mostly) wonderful summer you had! Have a great school year.
In the summer, the days were long, stretching into each other. Out of school, everything was on pause and yet happening at the same time, this collection of weeks when anything was possible.
Today's little miracle. The retreat center said no pack n plays were available, so she brought a pad and planned to put him in the floor. When we got to our room there was a pack n play on the porch. Finders keepers. He had been asleep about a1/2 hour when housekeeping came looking for it. I said it held a sleeping baby. They said we could keep it for the weekend. Relief.
