judycaretWalked with a friend this morning then another 1,000 steps by myself for a total of 11,000 steps. Big heat wave, ugh. It was quite warm at 9:00am. Good work, men, I'm impressed! Bea, thinking of you.
Two days in NYC. Lots of steps. 25k+ Yesterday and 16k+ today. With the hills and some stroller pushing, I got good works. DGS got a doll stroller for his birthday, and was he ever happy with it! Guess when you spend so much time riding a stroller, it's good to push one. So cute. Hard to say good bye.
Thank you for your time a...See MoreHello - I have been a substitute teacher for 3 years and am now working on a project about subbing. I have created a short survey for teachers that should only take a few minutes to complete. I would greatly appreciate your help with this project. Please feel free to forward / pass on this link to other teachers.
I walked for 2 hours early in the day because we're having a heat wave. It's supposed to hit the low 90's today. Thank goodness for air conditioning and that I had a new HVAC unit installed in July.
Elaine, I listened to you and installed Stepz. It recorded 13,748 steps.
Storms are on their way but that means a break from the heat. My garden is really taking off so that's been fun to see the daily changes. I walked to the grocery store and then the back and forth for the first grader.
I'm done for the day. This retirement thing is growing me.
Men, it's very hot here too. And, very very windy. I'll cross my fingers for your plateau--you've earned a big leap off that devil! Retirement. Sweet.
So, now I'm using my phone as a pedometer. 16,000+ steps today. I wonder how long my pedometer had been useless. Oh, well, I mostly walk by time.
DGS's concert tonight. They do such cute things with elementary music programs these days. Synching with basketball dribbling. Playing bongo drums. A comedy routine. Such fun.

Neighboring school was getting out early due to the weather. No questions I got my gear and headed out. Within an hour of getting home we lost power and had a mile and a half of high line poles down my road. Yikes! My neighbor could not get home because the poles were on the road and very high voltage. We have a gator 4 wheeler and could take her through the pasture down to her home. Son-in-law is bringing a big tractor over tonight so it is ready to go at 6:00am. 2 Power companies are involved so LOTS of trucks here to make the area safe. The last one will be here before 11:00 to cut off the power to the main lines. Can't imagine what this repair job will do to the crops, road, and fence lines along this stretch. Thankfully no other damage or injuries in the area. Now if the cows will all stay in the fence until we can get to them tomorrow and move them. Then we get a call from youngest daughter who had a student who died this morning at his home. She is on maternity leave but went to school to be with her students. Oldest daughter is helping a family deal with an infant loss and organ donation for this baby. What a day. Hug those loved ones today, things can change in the blink of an eye.
BADeb, what a thoughtful principal to send you home early. Your family has way too much going on emotionally right now. I hope that you will be able to support each other and those in your community who need support. You are so right about how quickly things can change.
