I walked 90 joyous minutes on this crisp and clear California day. I was particularly happy to get out as I was stuck at home the last 2 days (and will be tomorrow).
I'm still using MyFitnessPal to keep myself honest. I hate entering all food, but the results are good.
I ended today's walk at TJ Maxx and found a really nice Nike dri-fit shirt for $20. When I got home I discovered the original tag: $90. I knew it was nice.
men52I cancelled my class again today as I still am having sinus problems. I need to kick this before I try getting up on a bike again. I just take a lot of naps and watch a lot of tv. I have had this for a month now. That has been the extent of my exercise regime this week. Glad to read others are getting out and moving!
Must hold an Instructional (typ...See MoreI believe you must take and earn a qualifying score on the math and the science Praxis test in order to add to your existing certificate.
(From the PA Dept. of Education Certification website): Adding a Subject Area to an Existing Instructional Certificate (Add-on by Test Only)
REQUIREMENTS
Must hold an Instructional (type 60, 61, 62 or 80) or an Intern (type 51) certificate and be adding an Instructional or Intern area. Instructional areas cannot be added to Vocational certificates. Excludes: Cooperative Ed, all Special Education areas, Health and Physical Education, Reading Specialist and any Instructional subject for which there is no test or "no qualifying score." Must take and pass the appropriate subject area content test prior to submitting an application. Candidates must meet the qualifying test score based on a 3.0 GPA, because an add-on does not require a preparation program and no overall GPA is earned. Therefore, the GPA-Qualifying Praxis Score policy is not applicable for Instructional add-ons via testing.
However, your best bet is to contact folks at the certification department 717-728-3224. You can also go to the website and do a "live chat" to get more information.
11,685 steps, so far. Zumba class, some hall walking and then around town (up and down hills). Still staying with DM at night. temps in the 50s with a beautiful sunny day today. Warmer temps are comin'.
I am sending home jumbo sized craft sticks with the following on them:
Partner Read, Round Robin, Popcorn Read, Girls Read, Boys Read, You Read the Dialogue and I'll Read Everything Else, I 'll Read the Dialogue and You Read Everything Else, Whisper Read, Read with Extra Expression, and so on.
The kids can put them sticks into a cup and choose one when reading at home with a parent, sibling, grandparent, etc.
I make things more conducive to reading at home: Limited TV, lots of books, trips to the library, birthday trips to the book store and as long as you're reading, you don't have to perform chores except any mess you make, and tidy your own room.

My younger students, however, love these activities in small group reading and are thrilled that I am sending home a few materials for them to use at home. I am not overwhelming them with projects or materials, but simply reminding families that reading can occur in a variety of ways. I will include things like reading and following a simple recipe, solving a simple word search or crossword, and so on.
Have a nice day!

I need to look into shoes for gardening and for vacation (lots of walking). I teach in SAS and they aren't working very well and I garden in crocs but they are so sweaty. What are your favorite shoes for work, vacation and gardening?

Today I increased the weights on most of my exercises but kept the reps the same. I was sore from Monday's workout but pushed myself a bit since I felt I was ready. I asked a woman I had seen following a weightlifting program about it today. She was very informative and I may get myself moving into the program I have been avoiding.
Cardio was day 2 of the C25K app. I didn't feel quite as light and fast as I did on Monday. My pace was a little slower but I covered a little bit more distance. I think this happened during the minute run portions since my brisk walk portion was quite so brisk.
After the gym, I went to by some supplements (BCCAs helps with soreness and some protein powder for my smoothies) and then to the nail salon. I got the works done there (mani, pedi, wax). I was looking a bit rough!
There don't seem to be many positions near where I am in Hernando County, so I was looking at Monroe Country recently and they just have a kazillion openings. So what's the deal? Low pay, high cost of living?
