If this is your definition then you have to have a system that works with diverse needs. First decide what your goal is with the behavior system you use. Do you want to work to help change a student's misbehavior, or is your aim to control his/her behavior until 3 pm that day? TBH, some kids are going to be challenges every single hour of every single day, and they are not going to change long term. Those are the challenges, that you have to look at to see what is causing the misbehavior. It might be something beyond your control, but you can temper its effects in your classroom. Get parents, administrators, and colleagues on your side to help with the particularly challenging ones.
Rewards don't work long term and punishments don't either. Your behavior plans have to be dynamic and flexible. They might be a certain way for one class and a different way for another class. Your goal should be that nobody is disrupting the learning of others. However you do that FAIRLY is up to you.

I did a 10 minute warm up on the treadmill as I waited for the trainer. She was working in her office and I was early.
Today was some old and new exercises.
Set 1, repeated 3 times --10 lbs medicine ball, squat, overhead toss onto trampoline, 15 reps --inclined push pull, 45 lbs, 15 reps --power squat, 45 lbs, 15 reps --t bar row, 45 lbs, 12 reps
Set 2, repeated 3 times --one leg dead lift, 26.4 lbs kettlebell, 15 reps, each leg --26.4 lbs kettlebell swing, 15 reps --tricep rope pulldowns, 22.5 lbs, 10 reps --back extension, 10 lbs weight plate, 15 reps
This was a tough workout! I was a drippy, sweaty mess!
The stretching portion was a great way to end this workout. I feel some soreness, but I believe I'll be okay tomorrow and not too stiff.
I bought a weightlifting book about 3 years ago since I was ready to expand my workout routine. I tried doing it at home but I didn't have the right equipment and gave up. When I joined the first gym, I was too embarrassed to ask about doing it and put the book away. I pulled it out yesterday and started rereading it this morning. I have the printed worksheets for the program and looked at the what was involved. I know I have done some variation of what is in this program and hope to start it once my training sessions are done.
There is just one exercise that intimidates me and that is the chin pull up. I mentioned this to the trainer and she is going to have me try a variation that has some assistance. Scary, but I'm going to give it a try!

ron/njI've used Firefox for many years. The problem just started yesterday. I can get into the chatroom, but get the error message when I try to type something or even log out. I rebooted my pc thinking this might help, nadda.
I retired in May, but was an ESL middle school teacher (Reading and English) for 14 yrs. I used Scholastic Scope & Action with my high level classes for 7 yrs. For 2 years I borrowed StoryWorks from one of the 6th grade reading teachers. I found that Scope & Action were more suitable for my students, who ranged from grades 4-5 in reading. I found that the stories and articles in Scope/Action were pertinent to current news, etc., and the writing assignments were geared to our State Standards. The students really liked those magazines the best and enjoyed learning about debate, comparison/contrast, etc.

<h3><font color=navy blue>Winter is when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling. Something waits beneath it; the whole story doesn’t show.
I thought the post this week was interesting that the poster was not progressing because she walking too much. Wow. I know we have a lot of walkers doing big numbers on this group. Is anyone else suspecting the same as thing?
I also know many of us like to walk the trails in our areas. We recently had a horrendous attack of two girls walking the trails in broad daylight. We are adults but we still have to remember to always be aware of our surroundings even in the familiar settings that we enjoy and share with our communities.
Elaine/ret/INTwo walks today: 9677 steps. The indoor walk at the county library is fun for the camaraderie of the group. Not as many steps, though. Beautiful sunny low 30's day. Quite a gift for February walkers.
I'm away for 3 days for babysitting and our church women's week-end. Hopefully, I'll get some walking time.
judycaret 7,700 step walk for me today. Walking isn't just exercise and weight control for me, it's also my time to relax and regroup. It is very important to the whole me.
