Hello all - I'm working in Resource room. and need to speak to the parents of 3 children who are VERY Low.

1- a parent is dyslexic- 3rd grade. mom is fully aware of it.

2- 2nd grader. -at pre-K level. unable to work independently. mom was advised to leave her behind in 1st grade. and mom said no. She's not aware of how low a reader her child is. Child cannot read independently. Mom will not put accommodation for her daughter to be read to.

3-4th grader. struggles with reading and with spelling.

This is a private school where the teachers barely acknowledge the IEP.

children should be in a public school with more support.

We're targeting IEP goals in RR.

I'm not great with speaking formally on these things.

any advice on what to say, how to say it ?
flacka First, talk to each child's homeroom teacher and share information and ideas about the child (motivators, what has been used in the classroom, etc). Invite the gen. ed teacher to be there when you meet with the parents so you can all be on the same page.
