My elementary school (K-6) is considering a 7 day schedule for next year....each grade level would have a "specials day" once per rotation....ex., grade 1, on their specials day, would have each of their 4 specials (music, art, phys ed, library) in one day - 90 minutes each, one right after the other. The students would have nothing but specials that day. This would allow the classroom teachers to have one full "planning day" while their class goes to specials all day. The other 6 days, the only breaks in the days would be a short morning and afternoon recess for the students.

Thoughts? Research? I have never heard of a schedule like this.....
men52 No, I have never heard of this type of scheduling. I guess my thought is regarding the times the student is absent. It could be a long time between enrichments. For those students who thrive on enrichment, that could be disappointing if they are sick on enrichment day. Also we live in a two hour delay and school closing days weather zone.
