Students whose academic deficits and/or behaviors allow them to be served primarily in general education will be in those classes with push-in and/or pullout support depending on the student's needs and abilities.
Students who cannot access the gen ed curriculum will generally be in moderate to severe classes for core subjects with inclusion for specials and a life skills curriculum (and community/vocational experiences at the high school level).
OHI students and those with mild Autism (so to speak) will generally be included for most/all subjects. At the middle and high school level they usually will have a learning strategies class as an elective that serves as resource room type class where they can get one to one tutoring, help with organizational/study skills and some remedial work if needed.

I have been keeping an eye on what people have mentioned in terms on what they've received referrals for (in terms of their certifications) and I was wondering if anyone has received anything from Europe and that is not SPED/ESL/ELEMENTARY yet. If so, could you maybe mention what certification got you a referral?
Also, does anyone know if the principals ask for referrals in bulk (ie. 1 history teacher, 1 science teacher, 1 ELA) or do they work in groups (all history teachers need. Once filled. All science teacher, etc.)
Thank you all and best of luck to any of you with interviews.
Can you absolutely know that to be the case? No, not really. Virtually every place in the world (including the US) has something (or several things) that can have a major impact on your health/life etc (e.g. pollution, crime, earthquakes, hurricanes, threat of terrorism, etc).
I wouldn't let it get in the way of a great opportunity but only you can judge your own level of comfort with it (or any possible move overseas).

It seems that my application in the system has not be evaluated since 2015. I've updated my application each year as it has asked. Has this happened to anyone else?

DoDEA offers a virtual school and students throughout DoDEA can enroll in these virtual classes when they are not available for the student at their own DoDEA school.

Overall, the questions weren't bad, but I know I messed some of them up because I wasn't expecting them. I know I bungled my whole language response because I wasn't thinking about it in the context of FLES.
Sorry they aren't the exact questions, but it's a start.
1. Tell us about your background 2. Standards (Something about how you use standards) 3. Typical day in your class 4. How you use formatives and summatives 5. Your experience with PLCs 6. How you use technology 7. Why [your subject area]? 8. Something about how you use accommodations 9. Describe your experience with Common Core 10. Describe Continuous School Improvement 11. Whole Language approach 12. Something about team planning 13. How do you use data 14. What does a lesson plan look like

Trying to write them, didn't work even with me asking them to repeat the questions. I suggest having a Word Doc open and typing as much of the question as you can, so you answer all parts.

I REALLY want to be in stateside DOD schools. I'm elementary or middle school music. (I want elementary.) But I also don't have any other certs. So I'd have to be full time.
This is the last year I can apply. I've been in the system for 3 years...never gotten a call.
But I'm starting to get some action with public schools...I have one interview for next week.
Do you know when stateside starts hiring? I can't wait until July because we have to move somewhere this fall.
Addition...See MoreStateside, DoDEA increased their student ration recently with music and other "specials" teachers. So, several DoDEA teachers were "reduced in force" RIFed. So, they either went part-time or left DoDEA. Likely, these teachers have active applications and with good/great references from current DoDEA principals.
Additionally, there are few middle and high schools state- side, so make sure you have indicated in your application, a willingness to go to any of these locations.

I cannot see an entire post with comments anymore. All I can see is the subject line or the re: line...but no content. Is there a way to get back to the expanded version? I can no longer just browse through the comments. Thanks!
The easiest way to view is to click on "Topics" in the top right. You will see a list of all the recent topics with replies.
